Professional Artist Kris Rhymes was born and raised in South Phoenix. Rhymes had a fascination with art from the age of eight. He developed his excellent artistic skills over many years and chose to become a professional artist. Rhymes has trained his eye to truly see and capture the objects and people he visualizes. For him, art is a way of bringing the unreal into reality and creating art that is out of the norm. Rhymes’ inspiration comes from expressing his life through continuous creation of art that describes a moment in time and creates an interpretation of that moment for viewers. In “Whatdoyavalue?” Kris Rhymes brings us portraits painted with chocolate syrup and minimalistic pieces drawing on the colors and fonts of popular candy. The nostalgic materials and visual cues result in art that is warm-hearted, nostalgic, and compelling. Rhymes has been exhibited and privately collected in various venues including House Three Thirty Museum, I Promise School, Tempe History Museum, ASU Community Gallery, HQ Gallery, and many others.
